More photos

Here are a couple more photos from our day in St. Louis.

When I plugged in the camera card reader and downloaded the photos, I realized we hadn't taken any since we got to NC, so I'll have to fix that tomorrow.

Anyhow, here you go:

This photo, and the one below it, are of a bald eagle at the St. Louis Zoo. Just a cool photo. I had to shoot it with the manual focus, because the camera had a hard time focusing beyond the wires.

And this is one of Lucas gazing out the windows of the Arch. I turned it black and white as well, because I liked the contrast between the color version and the black and white version.

Well, I'm going to watch a movie I think on the computer and go to sleep. Lucas has been out since about 7:45 and hopefully he stays asleep. I think maybe his mouth was bothering him last night, so tonight I gave him something for that.

Tomorrow I hope to do some hiking and some swimming and then we need to do a little grocery shopping for the trip home and some map research as well. We're going to take Annette's mom, who came for the same conference, to the Knoxville airport, so I need to figure out how to get there.

Later.

Just me & Lucas

Well, we're in North Carolina now and today and tomorrow it's just Lucas and I bumming around town, doing some exploring and enjoying some good male bonding time. :)

We dropped Annette off at her conference Friday afternoon, came back to the B&B for some dinner and then Lucas played for a while before bedtime. I had him asleep by 7:45 or so, but then I wasn't sure what to do. My room doesn't have a TV and I didn't want to wake Lucas with a lamp, so I put a DVD in the computer and watched for a while, until the battery was about to die and then I just lay there until I fell asleep. You see, the plugs in this room are only two-prong, but the charger for the laptop is three-prong. So, when we were in town this afternoon, I ran into the hardware store for a converter and that worked.

Right now I'm trying to get Lucas to nap before we see Annette for a while. Her schedule was packed today, except for an hour and a half late this afternoon. We traveled about 60 miles east of here this morning to visit my aunt and uncle. We met in Hickory, although they live in Sanford, NC. It was really good to see them and even greater for them to meet Lucas for the first time.

I've been nervous about this weekend for a long time, probably since we started planning this trip, but so far so good. I was worried when he woke up last night at 10 and midnight, but he did pretty well after that. I don't know why I get so nervous about it being him and me here, I guess it's just unchartered waters. But, we're doing well! We need to find a way to fill the time tomorrow. We don't have any plans right now for meeting any family, although my cousin lives in Charlotte and it would be good to see them. If it's not raining, like it did a lot of today, we'll probably try a hiking trail and maybe the swimming pool.

So, that's what we're up to. Tonight after Lucas is asleep, I'll see if there are any more photos from our trip to post.

Vacation Day #1

Just a few pictures from our day yesterday in St. Louis.

In the top of the Arch.

The Arch.

A penguin at the great St. Louis Zoo.

And, of course, Lucas getting into trouble. Notice he's standing on two phone books in order to get a better view of what's on the table. Silly boy.

Alright, that's it for now. More photos and stories later.
